  2. It ain’t cheap. Shell out that kind of dough and this will likely be the most expensive handgun you’ll ever own. But then it will also very likely be the best handgun you’ll ever own. I don’t need to go into the build quality of a Premier 83 because FA’s reputation speaks for itself. As for the cartridge, seems a lot of people are afraid of the recoil from a 475 Linebaugh, think it’s “too much” gun. Well yeah, if your top-end idea of magnum is a 357. Don’t get me wrong, 475 is a stout cartridge, very stout, but if you’re a competent and experienced shooter it is not a problem — and that goes for women as well as men. Also note that you can always practice with toned-down 480 Ruger cartridges at the range since 475 Linebaugh will fire both equally well. I use it primarily as my last line of defense against bears when hunting in the Northwest, especially in dim light conditions when that first shot is the one that counts. No such thing as “too much” gun when your life is on the line.
