Manufacturer’s Description

The Remington 1911 R1 Commander Carry is a 1911-style semiauto pistol built on a forged steel, Commander-size frame and chambered in .45 ACP. Features include:

  • A satin black oxide finish;
  • a dehorned, forged, carbon steel slide;
  • a Trijicom tritium front sight;scan0001
  • a Novak rear sight;
  • a 4.25″ match grade stainless barrel with a target crown;
  • checkered/smooth cocobolo grips;
  • a beavertail grip safety with a checkered (25 lpi) memory bump;
  • an ambidextrous thumb safety;
  • a beveled magazine well;
  • an adjustable, machined, skeletonized, aluminum match trigger;
  • an enhanced hammer;
  • a lowered and flared ejection port;
  • 25 LPI checkering on the front strap and mainspring housing; and
  • one eight- and one seven-round magazine.

    Finally had a chance to shoot mine. I was not very impressed with the accuracy – but then, it is hardly broken in yet. But for comparison, my Springfield full size shoots tight groups at 25 yards with just about any ammo and did so right out of the box. For the R1, all of the ball ammo was on paper, but with scatter at 10 yards. Hollow points of the same weight were hit or miss. If it does not tighten up soon, maybe I will look into getting a Wilson Combat barrel?? RM
