Manufacturer’s Description
The Sphinx SDP Standard is a full-size, CZ 75-style, semiauto pistol chambered in 9mm or 9x21mm and built on a two-piece frame with a double-action/single-action trigger.
Sphinx says the upper frame or dust cover is made from aeronautic grade, hard-anodized aluminum with Teflon inserts to reduce wear. The lower part of the frame or grip is made from a proprietary polymer. The ergonomic, three-component grip is made from soft and hard material for a comfortable, confident hold. Three interchangeable grip sizes are available.
The integrated recoil buffer is designed to provide gun stabilization, get it back on target quickly and improve accuracy. The full-length guide rails are not inserts, but machined in to provide additional strength and increase accuracy. The integrated picatinny rail is made from MIL-STD 1913 aluminum with four notches to hold a variety of accessories.
The Sphinx’s slide is fully machined from solid steel and features a pyramid design that decreases weight and profile. The slide is coated with TiAIN to resist corrosion and wear.
The Sphinx SDP features Defiance sights, including a fiber/tritium green front sight and a tritium two-dot red rear sight.
Other features include:
- A loaded chamber indicator (visual and tactile);
- an internal firing pin safety;
- a drop safety;
- an integrated slide position safety; and
- a hammer safety.
