In 1980, Taurus purchased the Beretta factory in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and soon began producing pistols based on the Beretta 92 design. The Taurus 99 is chambered in 9mm and features a drop hammer and a forged ordnance-grade alloy frame designed to prevent cracking or allowing the slide to come off.
